SOLD Antique WW1 Imperial German Saxon G98 SG 1898/05 Butcher Bayonet
Antique WW1 Imperial German Mauser G98 SG 1898/05 Butcher Bayonet with scabbard, made by Anker-Werke Bielefeld, stamped on steel pommel with a scarce Saxon mark, crown over FA (Friedrich August III) Saxony.
Steel pommel with locking catch stamped "FA/07" under the crown (king Friedrich August III) Saxony.
The throat of the steel scabbard is stamped with inspection marking.
Wood slab grips with 9 grooves, held by round grip bolts and nuts.
Single fullered blade, swelling towards the tip.
Ricasso marked "ANKER WERKE BIELEFELD".
MEASUREMENTS:
The overall length of the bayonet in the scabbard: 51.5 cm (20.28 inches)
Overall length without the scabbard: 50 cm (19.61 inches)
Blade Length: 37 cm (14.51 inches)
CONDITION: Showing the age and usage, slightly pitted overall. The release button works fine, scabbard, and the grip back strap with minor dents.
