Antique Majolica Palissy Style Lobster Plate Jose Cunha Caldas da Rainh

Antique late 19th - early 20th century spectacular Portuguese majolica large ornate wall hanging plaque in the form of the plate in Palissy ware style. Adorned with large hand sculptured Lobster raised above a sandy textured background surrounded by blue Mussel shells, Barnacles and Seaweed. The rich colors are typical of the Palissy style with a cherry red for the lobster and a mixture of cream, greens and browns for the rest.
Impressed mark to the base Alvaro Jose of Caldas da Rainha. the base rim pierced with 4 holes for hanging
 
CONDITION: is extremely good, no chips or cracks or repairs
