SOLD Ancient, 14th -10thcentury B.C. North-Western Asiatic - Caspian Sea area, bronze dagger finely cast in one piece with a tapering double-edged blade with a median ridge, with a raised penannular panel at the ricasso, flanges to the edges of the integral grip, hollowed on each face to insert a pair of grip-scales. In the period when the sword was used, the handle would have had a bone or wooden insert, but these never survive three thousand years of time.

 

MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 32.4 cm (12.76 inches)

 

CONDITION: The bronze is slightly corroded, with a surface covered by a green patina and earth encrustation.

 

Provenance: From an old Canadian collection formed in the 1980s.
