Antique 19th Century Indo Persian Gilt Copper Alloy Shield North India

Magnificent antique 19th century Indo Persian ornate shield possibly, from Gujarat, North-West India. The shield of the circular convex form made of partly gilt solid copper alloy with applied bosses. Finely hand repoussé and chiseled in low relief with pierced openwork design of classic Indian hunting scene "shikargarh / shikargarh" depicting a lion hunting elephant, crescent moon, and antelopes on dense swaying foliate and floral ground. The outer surface affixed by stuffed pink fabric cushion, and four ring-bolts with straps to hold the shield.

MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 38.5 cm (15.16inches)

CONDITION: It is in good condition for its age, showing age and usage.
