Antique Indian Bronze figure Of Indian Hindu God Krishna Venugopala

SKU: AH10

Antique Indian Hindu deity called Krishna Venugopala, 18th - 19th century, Southeast Asia.
Krishna is depicted standing on a separately cast circular lotus base in his typical tribanga pose, holding the flute with both hands. He is wearing a pleated dhoti with incised patterns tied at his waist with a sash. Necklaces adorn his upper torso, while his arms are adorned with armlets and bracelets.
Krishna's face has large eyes, a broad nose flanked by elongated circular earrings, and is topped with a very unusual crown.
The figure was finely cast from four bronze elements: body, base, and two hands to obtain more precise details. The body and both hands are soldered together with brass.
Brass has a lower melting point than bronze, so this soldering process prevents the bronze from melting. Finally, the sculpture was hand-finished, skillfully chased, and engraved.

CONDITION: It is in good condition, considering its age and use. The surface has a dark patina, and it is worn on exposed areas. There is also a white deposit of old polishing paste.

MEASUREMENTS: Height: 18 cm (7.1 inches).
