This is an antique piece from the early 16th century, during the Renaissance period, depicting Spanish Ecclesiastical embroidery. It is finely crafted with silver and gold, metal thread and silk on linen, and showcases The Virgin of Los Remedios (La Virgen de los Remedios). The crowned Madonna is depicted standing within an arched niche flanked by spiraling, twisting Solomonic columns. The Madonna is wearing an elaborate gown with a large crescent moon on the bottom and holding The Jesus Child with her left arm. The piece is a true testament to the artistic skills of the Renaissance period.

The enduring popularity of The Virgin of Los Remedios has led to her image being portrayed in an array of styles throughout the centuries. Each depiction reflects the artistic sensibilities of its respective era.
