Ancient Pre Columbian Effigy Vessel Ceramic

Authentic ancient Pre-Columbian pottery Effigy Vessel with figure of a seated man, pre 1000 AD. The figure is sitting on top of globular incised base and is holding in both hands a jar and wearing ear ornaments. This artifact comes from the old collection of Pre-Columbian antiquities.
CONDITION: cracks and old repairs, broken nose.

MEASUREMENTS: Height: 22.3 cm (8 ¾ in). Width: 14cm (5 ½ in).

REFERENCES: A similar Effigy Vessel to this one is in collection of Pre-Columbian Art in Georgia State University (1.EC.19).
 
PROVENANCE: The object came from a private Canadian collection of antiques and was sold by a reputable Canadian auction house in the 1980s.
