SOLD Antique 18th century Turkish Ottoman Islamic dagger Hanceri – Jambiya- Khanjar with deeply curved tapering double-edged blade with medial ridge made of extremely fine quality Damascus steel Wootz, mounted in a characteristic one-piece grip. The dagger is in its original wooden scabbard covered in purple velvet with large silver mounts, decorated in finely engraved scrolling tendrils, the locket fitted with small suspension loop, chape with adorned at the end with a finial in the characteristic ottoman form, decorated in very fine engraved scrolling tendrils, and fitted with belt loops for suspension.

CONDITION: Showing age and usage, split on the outer edge of the scabbard, chape near the finial repaired, hilt with one crack (as common in these type), some pitted spots on the blade, silver mountings with minor dents. All of this can be an aspect from an antique combat dagger that is over 200 years old.

MEASUREMENTS
Overall length of the dagger sheathed in the scabbard: 26.5 cm (10.43 inches).

Overall length without the scabbard: 25 cm (9.84 inches.
