SOLD Genuine Art Deco letter opener composed of nickel-plated steel blade with integral blackened still hilt adorned with the Warsaw Coat of Arms Warsaw Mermaid (Syrenka Warszawska) armed with the sword and shield. On the mermaid Syrenka's shield is the crowned Polish Eagle and mounted in ferrule in the form of the crown with Fleur-De-Lys is and marked at the back GES.GESCHÜTZT. Since the German marking GES.GESCHÜTZT, can often be found on the WWII German military artifacts So, it is quite possible that the knife was especially custom made for the high-ranking official of the Nazi German Warsaw administration in occupied Poland during the WWII.
