SOLD Japanese Samurai Dagger Sword Tanto by NOBUYOSHI with Kozuka & Kogai

SOLD A fine authentic antique Japanese Samurai dagger Tanto, with Kozuka and Wari-Kogai.

A beautiful hand forged slightly curved very sharp sturdy blade with nice temper Hammon, the tongue with one mekugi-ana signed NOBUYOSHI SAKU

With all of its original mounts including lacquered wooden tsuka and saya with Fuchi and Kojiri, made from buffalo horn ,copperHabaki. The Menuki are the screws which are made of copper with gild flower heads.

The Tanto is accompanied with its original Wari-Kogai or Waribashi (split Kogai) and Kozuka. Kozuka with iron hilt inlaid with copper wire highlighted by gold with Chrysanthemum flower patterned.

The outer face of the blade is signed in kanji JUNKEI NAGAMITSU on the inner face with a tempering pattern (Hamon).


Since the name Nobuyoshi had several generations of Japanese swordsmiths working in different periods of time, I do not know the exactly age of the Tanto and by which of Nobuyoshi Saku the blade is made by. However we guarantee that this is an authentic antique that is over 100 years old and is a Japanese Samurai dagger Tanto with all authentic parts.

Also the name NAGAMITSU had several generations of Japanese swordsmiths working in different time periods hence I do not know the exact age of the Kozuka and by which of JUNKEI NAGAMITSU the blade is made by.


CONDITION: In its original condition as was found free of repairs and restorations. This blade has no flaws or cracks except for some spots of minor stain marks on the surface.

There is a missing Kashira (butt cap of the hilt) and Kuri-kata (knob on the side of the Saya (scabbard) for attaching the sageo (cord used to tie saya to the belt).

The blade is very shiny and not as dark as appearing on the pictures. We had used a diverse type of lighting to show the Hamon and details of the blade so discolorations of the blade are resold of lighting which was used to take pictures.


MEASUREMENTS:

Overall length of the dagger, sheathed in the scabbard: 30.5 cm (12 in).

Overall length of the blade including the tongue: 22.9 cm (9 inches).

Length of the Nagasa: 15 cm (5 7/8 inches).


Overall length of the Kozuka: 19.5 cm (7 1/4 inches).


Length of the Kozuka blade: 11.5 cm (4 1/2 inches).
