SOLD Antique late 18th - early 19th century, South East Asia Siam- Thailand South East Asian Thai silver mounted Sword Dha - Daarb (Dah).

DETAILS: A single edged slightly curved hand forged steel blade wider toward the point with a visible watering pattern and a nice temper line, elaborate two handed hilt with the wooden insert encased in pure silver with rings and braidet silver bands. In its original silver mounted wooden scabbard decorated with bands of fine filigree bead work and twisted wire.

"Dha" (or "dah") is a term for a sword of the various that make up what was formally Burma (now Myanmar), Siam (Thailand), Cambodia and Laos. It actually is a Burmese term for those swords used by the peoples of mainland Southeast Asian ethnic groups in Burma (now Myanmar), Siam (Thailand), Cambodia and Laos (exclusive of the Malay Peninsula), Yunnan, Laos and Cambodia.

MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 81 cm (31 7/8 inches), length without the scabbard: 78.8cm (31 inches).

CONDITION: Showing the age and usage, the silver mountings are worn with small dents.
