SOLD Antique 19th century Turkish Ottoman Islamic Ladies’ pair of shoes embroidered with metallic threads.

DETAILS: The uppers are made of black fabric, finely hand embroidered in traditional ottoman design with coiled silver, gilt, and metallic thread; the interior is lined with fine white leather lining with leather soles and multi-layered, stacked leather heels.

Shoes like the ones above may have belonged to a woman of high status. Rarely used because they were so finely made, she might have worn these slippers when welcoming honored guests or during special occasions.

MEASUREMENTS
Overall length: 26 cm (10 1/4 inches)

CONDITION: In very good wearable condition, showing age and usage. Free of repairs or restoration.
