SOLD Antique Pre-Columbian Moche culture. ca 200-800 A.D. ceramic effigy Owl vessel of rounded flattened reddish terracotta body, decorated with the image of a stylized Owl with sculptured large eyes and a small beak, with elaborately painted in white polychrome wings, legs and tail. The neck of the vessel is decorated with the head of another owl; a Moche symbol of wisdom and luck.
CONDITION: Chips on the mouth of the vessel (please see the pictures), no repairs or restorations, nice patina showing the age.
MEASUREMENTS: Height: 23.5 cm (9 1/2 in). Width: 19.5 cm (7 1/4 in).
