SOLD Rare, Superb quality Antique, 19th century Turkmenistan, Islamic Central Asian Turkoman Tekke horse trapping - chest-band (Ornaments, Jewelry). The large central gold gild domed silver pectoral Ornament is engraved on the border in Arabic,” Allah Agbar La Ilaha Illa Allah, Al Wahid Owsana Zaieb.” The belt is constructed of 5 rows of small continuous interlocking silver plaques riveted to the leather by brass pins, adorned with 6 various shapes of silver panels, each engraved and decorated in fire-gild and set with cabochon carnelian stones in raised settings.
Also, similar Turcoman Tekke horse jewelry, but not as fine quality, are in the Powerhouse Museum Collection, Sidney Australia, which belongs to the Afghani King's elite cavalry. Please see the link below.
