SOLD Antique 19th century German-Prussian cavalry officer's sword Model 1852. The regulation nickel platted steel basket hilt with ribbed wooden grip covered by shark skin and bound with 3 twisted wires. Slightly curved single edged steel blade, cut with a fuller finely etched on the both faces with floral sprays and panoply of arms and armor, banners and cannons, and leaves along the spine.
CONDITION: The sword is in its original condition as it was found, with no repairs or restorations. Showing its age and usage, the nickel-plating on the hilt is slightly flaking with some pitted spots, lower part of the blade slightly pitted. Otherwise it is in good condition considering its age. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 100.5 cm (39 9⁄16 inches). Length of the blade: 87 cm (34.25 inches).
