SOLD Antique 17th-18th century Indo – Portuguese relief depicting Our Lady of Loreto hand carved in Indian manner of Goa area of India. The panel is composed of several individually carved elements including finely carved Madonna standing between two tall candles flanked by spiralling baroque Solomonic columns dressing in elaborate gown with Christ Child at her left shoulder with crown at his head surmounted by a cross.
Two cherubs holding elaborate crown of Queen of Heaven above her head halfway below the dome inscribed with “ND D BS” and surmounted by cross. Virgin is standing on the pedestal flanked by two kneeling angels and carved on the center with Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced by the sword. Enclosed by two Archangels dressed in Indian robes and holding in the hands elaborate garlands.
All placed on wood panel bordered by hand carved baroque cassette frame with iron suspension ring at the top.
MEASUREMENTS:
Dimensions, including the frame: 27.3 cm x 21.5 cm (10 53⁄64 inches x 8 15⁄32 inches)
CONDITION: In good condition considering its age, showing its age and usage with old, natural, glossy patina and encrustation.
