SOLD An exceptional Maori, superbly carved in traditional form, wooden ancestor Tekoteko figure, standing on the rectangular pedestal, wearing a Piupiu (skirt), holding in his right hand with 3 fingers a war club, patu, his three-fingered left hand clasped across his belly, beautiful full face finely carved with moko tattoo, and shell inlaid eyes. Finished with dark stain with glossy age patina. New Zealand, 19th or early 20th century.


HEIGHT: 27.94 cm (11 inches).


CONDITION: Signs of usage and wear.
