SOLD Antique 19th century An 1816 Pattern French infantry sword “Briquet" Garde Nationale circa 1830 A.D. Casts Solid brass stirrup hilt, with a grooved grip, a sturdy slightly curved single edged blade cut with a shallow fuller, etched on one side “Garde Nationale” and the other " Liberte Ordre Public ". Each surrounded by floral motifs. In its original leather scabbard mounted with a brass chape and locket with frog button.


CONDITION: In good condition, showing the age and usage, some minor oxidation spots on the blade.


MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 77.2 cm (30.39 inches). Overall length of the sword without the scabbard: 72.2 cm (28.43 inches).
