Rare Ancient South Italian Greek Or Etruscan 400 BC Pottery Wine Cup Kantharos

Rare Ancient South Italian Greek Or Etruscan 400 BC Pottery Wine Cup Kantharos

SKU: G181

Rare superb, museum quality ancient South Italian 400-300 B.C. large black glazed wine cup "Kantharos" of elegant form with a flaring mouth, high arching handles, and a conical shaped high foot.

The black glaze of this particular Kantharos is more similar to the Etruscan Bucchero ware than to the Southern Italian Apulian black glazed ceramic or black glazed Boeotian ware. Also, the conical shaped foot is comparable to the Etruscan Bucchero ware cups rather than the Apulian ore Boeotian ware cups with a stem of character or a flaring foot.
