Authentic antique, huge Yemeni Islamic Arab dagger, Khanjar Jambiya with a belt, 19th century Yemen. A broad, slightly curved, double-edged blade formed with a pronounced medial ridge on each side, a shaped horn-hilt set with iron studs and secured to the blade's tang by two rivets brass washers made of coins with Arabic writing.

A wooden scabbard covered with solid silver, pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage, finished with a large bulbous finial, the back of the scabbard covered in green fabric.

The belt's exterior is covered with a finely handwoven in traditional Islamic arabesque design brocade fabric, with coiled gilt, silver thread.

Mounted with large solid silver adornments, pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage, and six solid silver rosettes all ensuite to the scabbard mount.

Both ends of the belt are covered in purple velvet. The belt is fastened with an iron buckle and a leather belt, which is covered with a silver thread embroidered fabric with a verse in the Arabic alphabet.

CONDITION: The dagger and the belt are overall in good condition showing their age and usage.

The purple velvet and the dark plane fabric at the backside are later replacements.
