Antique, Medieval, Islamic, slip-covered, splash - glazed ceramic bowl, Fatimid Caliphate Egypt or Syria, 10th -11th century A.D. (364 A.H. – 441 A.H.).
Tall bowl of deep form resting on a disc-shaped short foot, the walls of the interior adorned with very rare ornamentation of a tiger and a horned bull.10th century.
CONDITION: In good, intact condition for its age, to be over 950 years, with signs of age with old earthen patina and wear. No cracks, restorations or repairs.
APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENT: Diameter: 13 cm (5.12 inches). Height: 5.5 cm (2.17 inches)
A splash - glazed Abbasid pottery are extremely rare and hardly ever seen, not only for sale, but also in the museums.
An Egyptian Fatimid Earthenware, jar with very similar slip-covered, glazed, with splashes is in the collection of the Royal Ontario Museum.
